Pros: Have 8 drives just like it that work perfectly.
Cons: Returned drive to NewEgg and was told drive is no longer made and given refund. Spoke with WDC and the drive is in fact still in production and widely sold by several vendors.
Other Thoughts: Will not shop newegg again.
Pros: Inexpensive and quiet. So far so good!

Other Thoughts: A lot of people are buying these for their TiVos so I thought I would try it.
Pros: In my case none.
Cons: SMART indicated an impending failure, aand it died within 3 days thereafter.
Other Thoughts: I have several computers for family members, and this is the only hard drive to fail in recent memory--after only six months of light operation. I will stay away from WD drives in the future.
Pros: This drive has taken all I have thrown at it. It was the source drive for a large media project (an animation which it handled well) and I then refromatted and tranferred it from that desktop to an xbox console where it now plays games from memory and media files without a hitch. It's a good inexpensive drive that performs well.

Other Thoughts: Reformats, starts with no issues. Runs fairly quiet too.

Only had it for a week and just died.
got a no boot fail on start up.
Pros: This product seemed fine for about two months, until it died.
Cons: It died making weird noises, I thought it was the spindown, but it wasn't, the revolutions started to drop until it came to 0.
Other Thoughts: To all budget hard drive buyers, please try to buy another hard drive, this hard drive had enough of good ratings to made me buy it, and I ignored the bad reviews, and therefore karma, my hard drive died, making weird noises at first. I got another one through RMA, but make sure to be extra careful with this hard drive if you buy it, mine was very delicate I assume.

Pros: WD, what can u say? Good price, big storage (for now that is).
Cons: None so far...never had any problems with my numerous WD HDD
Other Thoughts: Had issue when installing. XP would not detect the unit via USB (HDD in external enclosure). After tinkering for 5-10 minutes I removed the HD from the enclosure. I removed the jumper pin, duh!, re-inserted HDD . XP found the drive immediately. I then formatted the HDD and it was good to go!
