Cons: 4 of 4 arrived Dead On Arrival

Other Thoughts: I won't be ordering this product again. Not sure if I should blame WD, NewEggBusiness or the shipping company. Box was fine. WD has always treated me good in the past. Unfortunately, I didnt get to test them till recently so the I can't return them. Maybe they go bad if they sit for a long time.

3 new drives for my NAS zero duds

Pros: Now first drive (an Eggxpert Review Item) is in running 24/7 in my HTPC for five years

Just purchased three new Red 4TB installed in my new Qnap TS-328. Passed the long test and now running and holding my precious pictures. Drive vintage was Jun 2018, so fairly fresh considering the sale price.

Great value when on sale, don't have to mess with drive "shucking" and all of that.

Just a follow up on my review of 10/31/2013 .

The drive is still running strong, with no errors as of today

From what I've read, if you get a good one..it's really good..if you get a bad one...well you have to spin the wheel of data loss and hope you have been imaging the drive on a regular basis if it lands on "fatal error"

Cons: No coupon for a free trip to CES/Vegas

Other Thoughts: I'm managed to retain most of my computer files from as far back as a mac + with a serial based disk drive ( that was 20MEGABYTES for $1299). I'd love to toss my collection of 47GB full height 14 pound seagates, but I like the noise they make when they spin up.

hey IBM...where is that pixie dust gel cube 10GTB storage device.....>?

In the meantime, drives are cheap and data is expensive..so keep backups!

NO Warranty....DO NOT BUY

Pros: cheap

Cons: It only worked for 2 years. I checked the Western Digital website and this drive has no warranty as it has been sold outside of the region. Grey Market products from NEWEGG have no warranty

2 days Brand new drive already a BAD Sector

Pros: NA

Cons: Just revived yesterday my order and added my 5 drives in my NAS, and already one drive that state a bad sector

Pros: Competitive pricing for 4TB drive

Horrible customer service from WD

Other Thoughts: I purchased 2 of these drives for a music server with the intent of setting up a RAID 1 configuration (mirrored) to protect my data. In less than 24 hours of use, one drive died and the second drive is starting to show errors. If you are installing these in an application that requires a reliable storage solution, it's best to look elsewhere.

As for Newegg, being I waited to install these past the 30 day return window, I could not return them to Newegg for replacement. However, the customer service rep was more than helpful as she stepped me through the WD returns process over the phone to ensure I could return my drives under warranty. As usual, Newegg support gets 5 stars.

Going Strong since 2014

Pros: I've had this hard drive in my Drobo DAS system since 2014 without any issues. I primarily use it for media storage.
I've had a very good experience with WD Red drives. They are reliable, resonantly fast (not super fast), fairly quiet, and power efficient.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend WD red to anyone for any type of storage needs. the Red series is based around reliability. In my opinion making them great all around drives for storage in your home computer or for a NAS. I would not use this for installing the OS it just is not fast enough for that.
