Beautiful Screen

Pros: -Gorgeous colour, noticeably better than previous gen AUO panels
-Smooth freesync, no motion blur
-Super thin bezels
-Very little backlight bleed or IPS glow

Cons: -First one had flicker
-First one had a stuck pixel (not a big deal, hard to see)
-No DP cable included - seriously?

Other Thoughts: Truly beautiful colours, though maybe overly saturated for some. Colour tends towards warm/yellow, needs some tweaking out of the box. I dial back red and green and bring brightness down to 30. Text is pretty crisp and gamma is great. I don't see any blur using freesync and normal overdrive, looks super smooth to me.

I use the VESA mount and put it on an arm, but the stand looks pretty weak. Speakers are as you'd expect. Stars off for bad speakers are ridiculous, of course they're terrible, they all are. Does not come with a DP cable, so prepare to spend another $10-15 on a decent DP cable to get the most out of your screen.

First one I ordered had the flicker problem - vertical lines/boxes randomly flickering on the screen. Ignore comments by people who haven't experienced it - the flickering has nothing to do with cables, freesync/gsync, or drivers. It's a panel or hardware problem. The only way to fix it is to exchange for a new screen. It also had one stuck pixel but I honestly barely noticed that.

At first I was going to keep it since the flicker was so minimal (once or twice a day) but it seemed to get worse with time and eventually some other weird screen problems were showing, sometimes looked like a grid on the screen when anything was in motion on the screen. So I RMA'd it and Newegg replaced it. So far no flickering on the new model, no dead pixels, and no grid effect. I will update if it reappears.

For the price, I'd cautiously recommend this, as long as you understand you might need to RMA it if it flickers.

Acer VG271U is okay

Pros: - IPS
- 144hz
- Affordable
- Minimal backlight bleed
- No issues with ghosting - response feels very good with overdrive off in comparison to my older dell monitors.

Cons: - Acer seems to always let me down - this monitor has green stuck pixels.
- Stand is the worst stand ive ever seen, you don't even know when its connected properly because it doesnt make a sound and its just garbage. Wobbly is an understatement, the tilt sucks, I feel like it always reverts back. And Blue really? Why not just grey/black for stand color - luckily in my dark environment it looks grey.

EDIT:
- Every hour or so on desktop the screen would flicker - highly distracting and unacceptable
Returned for Gigabyte Aorus AD27QD which is a 10x better monitor in every way.

Other Thoughts: - Compared to my Dell IPS - the colors on this thing are WHACK but its still beautiful.
- Don't buy for HDR
- Speakers are garbage but at least they're there if you hook up a console etc.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS MONITOR.

Pros: 144hz, IPS,

Cons: HDR isn't that great but it's a low price monitor.

Other Thoughts: My monitor works great. It seems if you are having flickering problems then get a display port cable that is 1.4. I did not use the cable that came with the monitor.

Great screen, flickers often

Pros: These are my thoughts after 3 weeks of owning the VG271up:

- The screen and colors are vibrant! Moving from an old TN panel to IPS was definitely a big step up.
- Once you go 144hz it's hard to go back. Games and everything else just feel so much more fluid. Assuming you've got the GPU to drive those frames.
- The monitor also comes with a 3 year limited warranty from Acer, so if the flickering or anything else gets worse that's something to keep in mind.

Cons: - The screen flickers a lot, it's fairly annoying and makes me worry about the longevity of the screen. Sometimes it'll be half the screen, other times it'll just be lines, and often the whole screen buzzes out for a quarter of a second. Really this is the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 eggs.
- I see other reviews mentioning the same flickering issue so keep that in mind.

Other Thoughts: - Go into the monitor settings and turn on quick start! It'll take off a few seconds from the screen start up!

Conclusion:
The only real negative would be the seemingly common flickering issue. And even in spite of that overall I'd say I still recommend this monitor. There's nothing on the market right now with this kind of specs at this fantastic price, especially if you get it on sale!

Less than a week in green pixel almost dead center

Pros: Good resolution
the stand is just ok

Cons: The green pixel, looking at other reviews seems its a known issue with this display.
Getting an exchange, If I have to exchange it again after that editing the review down to one star
