Incredible monitor!

Pros: -Amazing display
-Vibrant colors, amazing clarity
-Great viewing angles. You can BARELY see washout from certain angles. Personally 27" is the perfect size for gaming!

Cons: - You need a beefy card to take advantage of this. I would say a 1080ti or RTX 2080 minimum.
- if you are into FPS games this monitor is perfect for it. Granted I would probably go with a 1080p for competitive shooters but you cannot beat the clarity and beauty of a 1440p monitor

Great Monitor. Haven't regretted buying it.

Pros: it's 2k.
looks brilliant.
love the small bezel.
have owned it for 3 years now and no major issues.

Cons: Only one small thing:

Sometimes it will not display my desktop or login screen after leaving my computer on for a while and come back to turn on the monitor. Have to re-seat the display port cable from the back of my computer. I know its not my GPU because i owned different ones since i bought this monitor. However, this does not drop it an egg as this is a minor issue and only by itself.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this display if it was still available. would have liked another for a dual screen set-up or even a third to triple screen set-up.

Happy initially, not so much after some use.

Pros: - 144Hz goodness
- Slim bezel
- Build quality
- Looks very good
- VESA mount
- No dead pixels

Cons: The burn-in on this monitor is beyond compare. 2.5yrs in, the bottom 1" of the monitor is all squiggles, bleeds and all kinds of permanent light artifacts. By far the worst monitor I've ever owned, at any price point, let alone what I paid for it back then. I use black backgrounds so it's all extremely visible and irritating. For direct reference, my two 3-yo Dells on either side of it are still perfect with the exact same type and length of usage.

Other Thoughts: It's pricey but on par with other offerings right now. I've had zero dead pixels or setup issues. It's a TN panel so perfect viewing angles are by definition abysmal as anyone who ever used a TN panel can tell (lol, 160deg? just imagine me doing a great Jon Lovitz impression). BLB is not non-existent but quite even around the edges (give or take 1cm) and mostly minimal. The LED base light is a cute show-offy gimmick you get tired of about 10 minutes after turning it on but fortunately you're not required to "enjoy it".

Overall it's a very good large, gaming/general purpose monitor (if you're doing any kind of photo/graphics work, you should be getting an IPS panel, don't try to save a 100 bucks, you will not be happy).

144Hz refresh rate is a game-changer, and not only for the games. I don't care for G-Sync 'cause if ever, I game in windowed mode (not a fan of all the flickery mode switching), so I just set the refresh to 144 constant. May seem like a bit of a waste but the GTX 980 can take it and the movement of everything is butter-smooth glorious.

2 yrs Usage Edit: Unacceptable bleed and image retention.

Died exactly 3 months after warranty ran out, with NO POSSIBILITY to repair it because PCB replacement is impossible

Pros: Beautiful, super quick monitor when it worked.

Cons: ASUS's QC and after-sales service needs improvement. I bought this monitor in Germany, where I reside, and when the monitor died on me after 39 months (with no warning signs and zero visible damage), I contacted ASUS's customer service. ASUS' RMA service team told me that I'm s*17 out of luck, because it's impossible for them to repair. Under warranty, they would have just replaced the monitor. I invested €50 to have an expert independent TV and monitor repair shop take it apart and see what they can do. After checking everything else, they came to the conclusion the monitor would need a PCB (the monitor's motherboard) replacement and...turns out it's impossible to source a replacement PCB. I've checked online, it's true. If your PCB dies, and I don't seem to be the only person whom this happened to, just after the warranty period runs out, then you've got a €750 paperweight on your hands. ASUS, if you're reading this, look up my case #EALMQS044529. I expect better from you: in what world is it okay for such an expensive device to be rendered irreperably damaged through no fault of the end user (it just died on me on my desk!) after only 39 months? You know, if at least you offered a PCB online so it could repaired, I'd have no hard feelings (or at least I wouldn't feel quite so burnt), but this is completely unacceptable. I don't expect freebies, no product can last forever, but anybody would be p***ed if their expensive device broke down after only three years and there was NOTHING you could do to have it fixed.

I'm going to avoid ASUS hardware from now on, because this shows you really don't take customer service seriously, at least not in Germany.

Other Thoughts: Avoid if you expect it to last longer than 3 years.

Well...

Pros: Great resolution.

Cons: 3 Years and 20 Days later the monitor developed a problem. The left half of the screen displays vertical red lines; at first I thought this was a graphics problem.

I was able to test another monitor and everything worked flawlessly.

Now that I am 20 days over the warranty I am $$!7 out of luck. Three years was a good run, but I cannot recommend this monitor. At least not for the price you pay.

Great monitor but check the manufacture date

Pros: - Looks great
- Can swivel to read articles or look at portrait UHD pictures

Cons: - Could be faulty

Other Thoughts: Check that it was not made in 2014 as there were some dodgy ones.

I recieved one of these models (not from Newegg) and had to buy a new AC adapter as the one that ships with it died.

Not reliable.

Pros: Nicely designed from the outside.

Cons: Poor quality overall in terms of sleep.
This product became very unstable for me after 1 year.

Other Thoughts: Avoid this used. Or take special care to really look this thing over like an expert before buying this product used.

Good for about a year

Pros: Great looking display while it lasted. The 3D was awesome, and the G-Sync was great when gaming.

Cons: I purchased 2 of these to use in my office. After about a year the first one died showing only a bright white display. A couple of months later my second display began to show a line across the bottom of the screen and began to flicker. As much as these cost, I have to say that using them for only a year was a huge disappointment. I work for a college in the IT department, and after buying ASUS monitors for many years this has been my first bad experience. I have purchased hundreds of lower er end monitors but never any issues. My first purchase of these and both go bad. This is why I am here now doing this review, because I needed to find the original purchase date to see if I can get a RMA or repair. I still support ASUS and will continue to buy the cheaper monitors but I will think twice about buying more of the high end displays.

Other Thoughts: A note about changing from 60 to 144 Hz. Although it is a quick press of the button on the monitor to change, I also had to set it in the display properties of my video card each time, so it is really not a quick one button press. Also, sometimes I would have to press the button a few times before it would change on the monitor. This was the case for both monitors.
