Are all of the "G" series peripherals' usb dongles exclusive to the device they come with, or is there any way to get more than 1 device on the same receiver?

Yes I believe the USB receiver/dongle only works with the mouse it came with unless its the same model or series. I don't have a different keyboard or mouse to try but if you do it's worth giving it a shot. Usually when the receiver works with both a mouse and keyboard, it comes packaged all together.

Is it comfortable if you are holding it for a while?

It depends on what size batteries you are using but general for me, Yes. Btw I'm using Energizer recharge 2000 mAh. If I was to say a exact number of days about 25 depending on my usage just off the top of my head. Since it usually last more than a few weeks with leaving it always on I just don't care to count that high.

What effective distance does this wireless mouse work at? I want to use this for a HTPC setup, 10-15 feet, will this work flawlessly or is that too far?

Yes it should. I tested from outside the door entrance of my room to my computer which is in the opposite corner.
