Microsoft Windows 10 Professional - Full Retail Version 32 & 64-Bit (Download)

Pros: Retail Version Not OEM Received Product Key In Minutes Via EMail Digital Download . It Is Windows 10 Professional .

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: No Issues With Product Key . You Only Need To Use It Once As The Retail Version Is Digitally Activated Or Through Your MS Account . I Highly Recommend The Retail Version A Little Expensive But Worth It If You Tend To Swap Out Computers A Lot I Build A New Computer Every Six Months Lol

Key Code for Windows 10 Professional

Pros: -Works as stated.
-The key code worked to activate Windows 10 Pro on a computer that I was assisting with a build.
-Get the ISO download or the USB installation download directly from Microsoft. I already had v1803 it on a Flash Drive.

Cons: -Price. It could be lower. Microsoft was giving away Windows 10 for free from July 2015 into 2016.
-No upgrade version pricing. Friend has a Windows 7 key but did not convert it during the free upgrade period so no free upgrade version. Also, no upgrade option. New OS purchase. So it goes.

Other Thoughts: -As stated this is a single Key Code for Windows 10 Professional retail edition.
-If you already have a Windows 10 ISO you can download RUFUS to make a bootable Flash drive if you do not have an optical drive as many modern PCs no longer have any removable media bays besides USB device connections.

It's Windows

Pros: It lets me run Visual Studio and remote in to my machine at work pretty easily. Hardware is better supported by Windows than LInux.

Cons: The UI on WIndows 10 is still a dog's breakfast of different UI concepts Microsoft. Things like Edge and Groove have the same shiny new design language, but if you dig just slightly deeper, you are greeted by things that look at home on Windows 7 like the RDP application. You see some applications with modern hamburger menus, some with ribbons, and some with traditional menu based UI's. Windows is a big mess right now and they need to put some effort into unifying the UI elements.

I'm also not crazy about all the hoops you have to jump through to prevent your machine from waking up on it's own in the middle of the night to run updates. I figured out how to prevent that, but it took a lot of Googling and a few days of waking up in the middle of the night being greeted by my monitors at full brightness. If I put my machine to sleep, I want it to stay asleep.

Windows 10 comes with a lot of junk software installed, like Candy Crush. I get they are trying to show you the neat things you can do with Windows. I think that's fine for the normal consumer version of Windows, but if you are buying a pro license, they should keep the installation leaner. The first thing I do after a clean install is uninstall Candy Crush, One Drive, and any other non-essential applications.

Other Thoughts: If I didn't need Windows for work and some development projects, I wouldn't bother with it. It's the path of least resistance. The UI has promise, but it's still a work in progress and they don't seem to be putting that effort on the fast track.

Blatant Abuse Of Market Power

Pros: The license key can be used to register a copy of Windows 7

Cons: Finicky
Forced updates that are incredibly long
Complete disregard for user privacy

Other Thoughts: I wish we could go back to the days of Windows XP.
Or, you could get a Mac, or use Linux!

Disapointing product that determined me to avoid Microsoft products from now on

Pros: - needed for Adobe Lightroom (I already do most of my stuff over Linux).
- A relatively simpler GUI than previous versions but paradoxically is still using two distinct setup GUIs

Cons: You are wasting $200 for:

- installation using Microsoft's own USB media creation tool (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10) fails during USB media setup. You have to download the ISO and use a third party app (e.g. rufus) to create the media.

- Start button bug is still there, "Start" fails to work properly and there is no final fix for that

- Windows Update is even crappier than it was in Windows 7 (who suffers from similar issues after they changed the updating solution). The KB4088776 update fails to install and there is no final fix to that: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4088776/windows-10-update-kb4088776

- network domain and access level policies setup are unbelievably awkward and hard to set

Other Thoughts: I came up to the conclusion that on the long run, instead of fixing Win10 Pro is better to give up working with Lightroom and Office suite.

You can find all you need in the current opensource products (programming choices, networking, LibreOffice, gaming/Steam) and I think Microsoft is telling us that the time to stop wasting money on their products has arrived.

Working fine

Pros: No problem with the install - took the key with no problem. Installed quickly on my M.2 drive. Playing well with all my hardware.

Cons: None at present other than having to get used to the new organization.

Terrible customer service from Microsft

Pros: if you can get it installed, I suppose it would work

Cons: no easy way to install

Other Thoughts: I would recommend getting a non digital version. I was redirected to the windows 10 download page, which had me download the Media Creation Took. The Media Creation tool kept aborting with error messages, and there is no support from Microsoft when that happens. Looking into other people investigating the same error message, it appears there was a problem with Microsoft's download servers. I tried to download the ISO in Edge in emulation mode but the ISO download supplies by microsoft was corrupted completed the 4GB download at only 173MB. I had to go to Chrome and pose as an iphone user to finally get the ISO to download, and it has just now completed. Now I have to go find where I stashed my old USB boot program, all because Microsoft cannot get its act together and supply an easy to use program.

I let it mature before buying

Pros: - Fast
- Allows you to disable 'spy' features at a software level
- Can be installed on multiple computers using same Microsoft account
- Finds drivers for older hardware
- Cleaner UI

Cons: - Excessive system background processes
- No Aero
- Obtrusive feature pushing
- Clunky start menu

Other Thoughts: All in all, I finally decided to pony up the cash and get a legitimate key for Windows 10. Figuratively speaking you can still use Windows 10 for free but you just can't 'customize' it.

I do not like Windows 10 'as is'. However, after unchecking all the data mining options, disabling Cortana, installing Classic Shell and bringing back the Windows 98/2K era simple start menu and control panel, and dumping IE and Edge, and toggling metering your connection, it's not a bad operating system.

The background processes are a bit excessive, especially under the system tab, however, unlike previous versions of Windows, they seem tame and non Obtrusive.

Another thing I do, is enable metering of the internet connection. This will prevent Windows from doing everything in the background without your permission, which will improve performance and battery life of your machine.

Despite all the gripes, I still give Windows 10 a 5 egg rating, because when it's all said and done, it's much faster and more compatible than previous versions, my games will run better side by side compared to other versions, and with this code tied to my Microsoft account, I've upgraded and installed on all my devices - 3 laptops, a tablet and a desktop without any activation issues. That alone makes it worth the near $200 price tag.

And the professional version is the only one that lets you dig in deep and customize to your liking!
