Works well

Pros: Works right out of the box. Does not get hot at all. No setup time.

Cons: Only 10/100. This is NOT Gigabit (but I knew that)

Great for a cheap 10/100 Mb switch...

Pros: Metal chassis, fanless, netgear switchs have always been very reliable for me. Auto crossover detection.

Cons: Depending on your wiring, the power connector might be on the wrong side.
Only 10/100 Mb, not Gigabit.

Other Thoughts: Lost my old 8 port fast ethernet switch in a recent move... Was needing an 8 port switch for some embedded devices & printers that only had 100Mb ports (and actually use minimal bandwidth), so purchasing a gigabit switch would have been a waste. Waited a while and Newegg had a promo code + MIR to bring this switch down to a price that was just too good to pass up, practically giving it away.

Easy setup, and Wow what a great construction

Pros: Easeof setup, Just plug and play. metal housing, feels like a high quality part. You can mount it on the wall.

Reliable But Not Fast

Pros: Netgear has a proven track record with all their Prosafe switches.

Cons: This is NOT a Gigabit switch (which would be 10/100/1000). Instead, it's only 10/100. This is OK on a small network where fast transfer speed is not essential.

Other Thoughts: This FS108 is a very low-cost way to add more ethernet network ports to your home router. If you need greater speed then you may wish to look at the Netgear GS108 which costs more and can handle more network "traffic" at higher speeds.
