Slow, disconnects and died in less than 2 years

Pros: None. It did what a router is supposed to do, until it didn't

Cons: Short life span. Random slowness and constantly crashed the entire network if a website took too long to load because it would disconnect.

Other Thoughts: This router worked fine for a few months, then I started having disconnection problems when websites took to long to load. It would bring the entire house down both hardwired and wireless. I would have to reset it to factory sometimes and sometimes it would act like it reset but the settings were still saved. but I only had mine 2 years and then today I bought a new wireless printer and it refused to connect to the router even with access control off. I hard reset the router but this time the lights started doing a weird flashing pattern that just looked wrong. it never came back from it and this has led me here on this review.

I caught it on sale and only paid $66 for it. Please don't waste your hard-earned money by paying $150!

Worked for a Year, Then Downloads Became Slow

Pros: Worked well for a year, but then downloads became so slow.

Cons: It was running fine for a year with Speedtest.net reporting 119 Mbps download speeds from my PC connected by Ethernet and wifi devices (Samsung S5, for example) reporting up to about 117Mbps connections. Comcast sent me a notice recently that they upgraded me to 100 Mb/s broadband, but after power cycling my D-Link DCM-301 DOCSYS 3.0 modem, this router, and all connected devices, the Speedtest DL speed is the same as are wifi connection speeds, but on wifi devices (S5, S3 Note, LG phones) e-mail with images and browser pages take very long to display. Power cycling everything again did not help. I replaced the router with my old Linksys WT54G, and while I loose gigabit Ethernet and Speedtest reports only 25 Mbps download speeds and wifi connections are only 54 Mbps, e-mail and browser pages load fast once again. So it seems it's broken or a QOS problem although I didn't change any QOS settings.

I liked it so much I bought another, wish the first one lasted longer

Pros: Very easy to set up, very good range, only had to reset it a couple of times in 3.5 years. Never tried the USB port - didn't need that functionality.

Cons: I have had one of these for three and a half years and one day it just bricked - couldn't reset it, it wouldn't power up, nothing. I wish it had lasted longer, but for the price and how easy it was to set up - I bought another to replace it and I'm surfing the web again.

Fine As A Router, Abysmal As A Network Hard drive

Pros: It's a router. It does router stuff. It works. Networked printer, wireless and wired internet is fine.

Cons: Is horrid when using the USB on it to network a hard drive. Any PC or device that tries to write to the drive gets an access denied every time. Changing Windows permissions changes nothing. Changing permissions within the Netgear software also does nothing. From what I've read from others having the same problem, the router is only able to share certain model hard drives which is silly and pointless. Look elsewhere if you're looking to share a hard drive. It won't happen with this router.

Slow LAN speed, unreliable connection, and now it's dead

Pros: -Small
-Simple installation

Cons: -I get 300+ mbps when my computer is wired directly to my modem; when I wire it through the router, I'm limited to 120 mbps despite the fact that this is advertised as having gigabit LAN. And no, I do not have bandwidth throttling enabled.
-Constant random disconnects when playing online games. I get kicked out of Overwatch once every 30 - 40 minutes. This problem didn't exist when I was using the rental router from my ISP, and doesn't exist when I am directly wired to my modem.
-Every couple months my internet connection would go out. No issues with the modem, just the router reporting no WAN connection. I'd reset it (very annoying because I would have to set up my wifi again) and everything would be fine. Well, a couple days ago it went down like usual, but this time resetting it didn't fix the problem. Tried leaving it off/unplugged for a few minutes but it was still out of commission when I connected it again. It still broadcast its 2.4 and 5 ghz wifi but it didn't see any internet connection from my modem, although I knew the modem was perfectly fine because I could access the internet when I connected my computer to it directly.
-Not a huge concern, but still an annoyance: the LEDs on the front indicating connection/power statuses are extremely dim. Even in a dark room they can be hard to see.

Other Thoughts: I have no idea why this product has such a high rating on Newegg--maybe I just got a bad one? It doesn't seem like a random dud, though. It worked without any issues for the first few months I had it, then the quality slowly degraded over time. At this point, I've owned it for 1 year and 2 months and now it's just a doorstop.

NETGEAR WNDR3700-100NAS Version variation nightmare

Pros: In February 2016, I ordered 3 routers and received the 3 routers version 5. I was happy that I could configure one of them as a base station and two as extenders to cover a large house. In Version 5, you can also configure the whole wifi setup in WPA encryption. And it has worked good.

Cons: Major problem now: In the past month, Newegg has now sent me 3 of these routers, but with Version 2. They do not work the same as Version 5 with the base station and WPA encryption configuration. It's a major setback for me. The sales heading should say what Version they are selling but it does not. Why would they go all the way back to Version 2 after selling the more updated versions? I need Version 5 but can't find it anywhere.

Router OK. Wireless now flaky

Pros: The wired portion of the router works well. The ability to set wireless power and on/off schedules are a great function.

Cons: My problem is that the wireless has started to drop out for no reason. I decreased the speed from 300 max to 145. That didnt fix the issue. Today, rebooting the router 3x did not correct the issue. The router is on an AVR UPS so no power surges or sags have affected it. A fan blows air over it so there are no heat-induced issues.
I recall others had reported similar issues, but thought it was an anomaly. Apparently not.

Other Thoughts: Will be looking into repair or more likely a return.
