WiFi Disconnects all the time

Pros: Wired connections work

Cons: WiFi Disconnects all the time

Other Thoughts: At first I thought it was just something with my computer until I saw my Alexa devices start disconnecting as well. It affects my 5Ghz and my 2.4Ghz. I tried the custom firmware which helped reduce the disconnections but didn't stop it.

Stay Away

Pros: -Plex server is cool
-Good speeds
-Easy Setup

Cons: -Constant Disconnects
-Firmware Lacking (QOS, settings)
-Price

Other Thoughts: This thing disconnects horribly. Not talking wifi/lan port temporary drops, im talking full internet disconnects. It acts like the wan port goes offline and cant reestablish the connection without a reboot. I bought one of these then replaced it with another brand new one just to have the same issue. Even tried 3 different modems just to verify it wasn't the modem. Sometimes it will last a weak some times a day or two its really random. Ive read multiple people have this problem on netgear community forums. Its like netgear just ignores the problem. Even with all the hype of how great this router is from tech sites, you can tell none of them ran it more than a week before publishing the articles. On the flip side when this thing is actually running it does a great job. I love the plex media server which kills me to have to possibly return this or load custom firmware to get it running.

Trash

Pros: looks cool, advertising sounds cool

Cons: Drops wired connection every few minutes
Will connect with some wireless devices, but not all...even when they are sitting next to each other and within 4 ft. of the router

Other Thoughts: NETGEAR just lost a customer forever. Going with a different brand from now on.

Do not buy netgear

Pros: Great while it was working

Cons: quit after 6 months

Other Thoughts: I bought a netgear router (r9000). After owning it for 6 months, it would occasionally drop the 2.4 and 5 ghz radios, a reboot would fix this. About a week ago both of those radios stopped working when you log into the router it shows that both radios are supposed to be enabled but neither one is working. I tried all of the suggested things on the website, so I contacted support and was told that because it was past the 90-day service warranty I would have to pay $139 to get service. The router is still under warranty for hardware, but they won't RMA it because they say it is just a bad setting in the router. This is a $350 router that quit working with no input from me (I wasn't trying new settings,I had not done anything to the router). This is the equivalent of ransomware. Pay them another $130 and they will turn the radios back on. I have tried everything to get the radios to turn back on, I even did a factory reset and the radios still will not come on. We are not talking about a bargain bin router, it is a $350 router and so apparently they don't stand behind their products, you should look elsewhere.

Proves to be a wireless gaming WINNER

Pros: What I liked about this wifi Netgear R9000 over Linksys is that it places a Zenith bubble over entire house. Gaming, Cameras (including Lorex and Ring), 4k tv, and iphones can handle it all at once at rapid speed.
My Call Of Duty gaming keeps up as though I'm hard wired to ethernet. I use a ASUS PCE-AC88 Wireless AC3100 PCI-E WIFI adapter on my desktop to connect to Netgear R9000 in the other room.
Keeps up with others on Free For All or Team Match COD internet games.

Cons: At first I had problems getting unit connected to internet. I went on utube and watched instructions. Down load IPHONE APP first. Set up that way.

Not sure what the deal is - but ...............

Pros: I see all these negative reviews, but have to say, the unit I got (from a local brick and mortar, for much less) is kickin aarrse. This router shows a strong signal down almost down my whole my street. No BBSS. I have not had drops, always constant, and it has actually pushed higher speeds through all the 5MGHZ Wireless adapters I have installed on all my computers (run many for business needs.) I seriously have to say, while I was sort of kickin myself for dropping as much as I did (most I have ever paid for a rotuer) this R9000 Nighthawk has proven to be the best one I have ever had. Got tons of settings in the GUI, though I tend not to need or use too many.

Cons: The USB and cloud setup for this though is a little quirkie, but , hey, most are anyways, in my experience.

Other Thoughts: I just wanted to give this a 5 egger, since it seems to be getting killed by those who, I do noitsoubt, must have gotten some bad units. Hopefully Netgear makes good for these folks.

Horrible experience with wifi from the start.

Pros: -Solid lan performance.
-Ethernet Port Link Aggregation
-10G port
-WPA Enterprise with RADIUS

Cons: -sub-par vlan implementation
-10 gig port is only useful if you have a NAS with a lot of computers using it or a switch with 10Gb ports. Otherwise you're limited to 2Gigs max on LAN (1gig per machine using it simultaneously) or 7.2Gbps wirelessly...which I guess is a pro but I just can't imagine you'd have a need for 7.2Gbps file transfer and not need more than one NAS hooked into this thing. if you had have a separate 10Gbps switch with at least 2x10G ports I can see it becoming more useful to an enthusiast user, which is who this is aimed at.
-From the beginning, I've had issues maintaining a connection to the wifi. I'm in it and I can't begin to tell you how many variables I've gone through and come to the same conclusion; the wifi on these devices is somehow broke.

Other Thoughts: My warranty expired in march. Apparently this extremely expensive device has a 1 year warranty. After speaking to a rep the other day he stated "There is no known issue with wifi going in and out on these routers". I thought that a bit odd. A lot of trouble shooting time wasted, even after explaining my IT background, and all to dance around the subject of the warranty being expired. I held off on doing a warranty exchange thinking I had time and that there had probably been a recall or the like since I know I've read about these issues on multiple forums.

Simply put in it's current state, I can not recommend this to somebody who values their time. The reliability of the wifi here really just destroys any value i could have gotten from this thing.

Unstable Wifi

Pros: - Quad-Core 1.7 GHz processor
- Start up time is very quick
- Ease of setup

Cons: - Support was less than helpful.
- Known issue that Netgear refuses to ack or fix - WiFi radios go in and out frequently so its really just unusable.
- AD standard is unused so you're at a loss if you're trying to utilize the full advertised speed

Other Thoughts: I tried my best to give this one a chance because I've been a fan of Netgear for so long but this issue is terrible. They've lost all sight of this one since the new Nighthawk Pro line came out. I spent a month back and forth with support with no resolution until my support time ran out and my ticket was suddenly closed. The forums are filled with the same complaints I had in terms of unstable wifi. The radios cut in and out every few minutes with the latest update. Rolling back firmware versions may get you a day in between needing to reboot the router. Save yourself the time and stress of having to work this out. Go with the X4s/X6 or the Asus equivalent.
