Pros:
-Solid lan performance.
-Ethernet Port Link Aggregation
-10G port
-WPA Enterprise with RADIUS
Cons:
-sub-par vlan implementation
-10 gig port is only useful if you have a NAS with a lot of computers using it or a switch with 10Gb ports. Otherwise you're limited to 2Gigs max on LAN (1gig per machine using it simultaneously) or 7.2Gbps wirelessly...which I guess is a pro but I just can't imagine you'd have a need for 7.2Gbps file transfer and not need more than one NAS hooked into this thing. if you had have a separate 10Gbps switch with at least 2x10G ports I can see it becoming more useful to an enthusiast user, which is who this is aimed at.
-From the beginning, I've had issues maintaining a connection to the wifi. I'm in it and I can't begin to tell you how many variables I've gone through and come to the same conclusion; the wifi on these devices is somehow broke.
Other Thoughts:
My warranty expired in march. Apparently this extremely expensive device has a 1 year warranty. After speaking to a rep the other day he stated "There is no known issue with wifi going in and out on these routers". I thought that a bit odd. A lot of trouble shooting time wasted, even after explaining my IT background, and all to dance around the subject of the warranty being expired. I held off on doing a warranty exchange thinking I had time and that there had probably been a recall or the like since I know I've read about these issues on multiple forums.
Simply put in it's current state, I can not recommend this to somebody who values their time. The reliability of the wifi here really just destroys any value i could have gotten from this thing.
Pros:
- Quad-Core 1.7 GHz processor
- Start up time is very quick
- Ease of setup
Cons:
- Support was less than helpful.
- Known issue that Netgear refuses to ack or fix - WiFi radios go in and out frequently so its really just unusable.
- AD standard is unused so you're at a loss if you're trying to utilize the full advertised speed
Other Thoughts: I tried my best to give this one a chance because I've been a fan of Netgear for so long but this issue is terrible. They've lost all sight of this one since the new Nighthawk Pro line came out. I spent a month back and forth with support with no resolution until my support time ran out and my ticket was suddenly closed. The forums are filled with the same complaints I had in terms of unstable wifi. The radios cut in and out every few minutes with the latest update. Rolling back firmware versions may get you a day in between needing to reboot the router. Save yourself the time and stress of having to work this out. Go with the X4s/X6 or the Asus equivalent.
Pros: The device looks nice and sets up easily.
Cons:
The device's primary function is a wireless router, and it does not work as a wireless router.
Customer Support is poor at best.
Other Thoughts:
The wireless radios constantly blinks on and off. When it works the wireless is good. However the wireless radios turn of every 2-3 minutes. Updating the firmware does not correct the issue. Rebooting the router does not correct the issue. I contacted customer support with no help. Then they tried to steer me to the paid support. After spending almost $400 then to require paid support after 60 days from the date of purchase. That's just bad customer service.
I have had several routers from Netgear over the years and never has the quality been this poor.
I have move to Asus router and will never return to Netgear.
Pros: It's fancy looking.
Cons: The firmware is messed up. When I log in to the router the "Connected Devices" and "Access Control" pages are blank. They work for a couple hours after I reset the router but then they break and the lists are blanked out. We bought this router for increased security but I can't access these important pages. I called Netgear support for help. They said they know there is a problem and they will contact me when the new firmware is released but they wouldn't tell me when it would be available. I looked online and this issue has been going on for at least a month with this version and they had the same problem with previous versions of the firmware. This is no good.
Other Thoughts: Not recommended.
Pros: i recently decided to drop the dish and equipment to go wireless. My last modem I had for about 4 years was the Netgear nighthhawk ac 1900 this was a good router but when I started noticing video freeze I decided to upgrade to the x10 all I can say wow. I'm going to add a mesh router even though I don't think I need i just want to see how much power I can transmit.
Cons: its a little pricey but if you have issues with your router and coverage this is worth every penny.
Other Thoughts:
Yes
Yes
I would package the mesh router and even the new netgear docsis 3.1 cable modem which I had to order separately.
Pros: I really would love to give a review of this but I can't even power it up.
Cons:
Netgear...this was purchased through the Australian website link. How is it i'm given a US power adapter ???
A very basic mistake I hope Netgear are able to rectify
Pros: This router is one fast router, Lots of setup options. I have 4 wireless cameras and the older R7000 had problems keeping them online. But this one hasn't dropped one from the time of setup. Longer distance and better signals outside and all around the 5 acres I have here without a outside antenna. Grab one of these and solve a lot of problems.
Cons: NOT EVEN ONE.
Other Thoughts: I would recommend this router to any gamer or persons with larger houses. Pricey yes but you get what you pay for and Newegg had the best price of all the searches I did.

Pros: I see all these negative reviews, but have to say, the unit I got (from a local brick and mortar, for much less) is kickin aarrse. This router shows a strong signal down almost down my whole my street. No BBSS. I have not had drops, always constant, and it has actually pushed higher speeds through all the 5MGHZ Wireless adapters I have installed on all my computers (run many for business needs.) I seriously have to say, while I was sort of kickin myself for dropping as much as I did (most I have ever paid for a rotuer) this R9000 Nighthawk has proven to be the best one I have ever had. Got tons of settings in the GUI, though I tend not to need or use too many.
Cons: The USB and cloud setup for this though is a little quirkie, but , hey, most are anyways, in my experience.
Other Thoughts: I just wanted to give this a 5 egger, since it seems to be getting killed by those who, I do noitsoubt, must have gotten some bad units. Hopefully Netgear makes good for these folks.
