Was great until right until

Pros: It's easy to setup
fast when it works

Cons: Overheats easily

Other Thoughts: Two days after I can send it back it started acting up. It hard locked on me for no reason. It's sitting in a very open area so there is no reason for it to overheat. But it was super hot to the touch.
I stopped buying linksys years ago. I say let me give it another shot.
Well this is going into the useless pile. I bought some synology routers now and I'm happy.

Aweful!

Pros: It looks good

Cons: Dropped WIFI signals
Requires daily reboots

Other Thoughts: This was a great router for about 6 months. Strong signals, great coverage.
However, that was too good to be true.
Even as I write this review, my WIFI connection keep dropping to nothing. This comes and goes but is always a daily event. Also, my internet will completely lock up and this requires a reboot.
Im done with this router and heading out to pick up a competitor's router today. I will never purchase anything Linksys ever again.

Ouch! Lesson learned

Pros: Easy to set up and configure.
Guest network great for the kids friends.
When it works, it did what it was supposed to do.

Cons: Reliability.
Started resetting about a year after we purchased the router.
Customer service is useless.

Other Thoughts: We had a WRT54G for 14 years or so. We never had an issue. Linksys isn't the same company it was 14 years ago. Right now I think some marketing folks are trading on the name. After all, that was one of the factors when I selected this router. All I can say is "Good Luck", if you decide to go ahead and buy it.

Junky

Pros: Features

Cons: My tech knowledge level is high by the way. First one started flaking out, losing signal, eventually not connecting at all. Replacement worked okay for about 2 months, then one day wouldn't power up at all. For this price point, electronics should be quality.

I ended up going with another brand as I've no time to waste on more returns or contacting customer service.

It went into the trash can this time.

Total garbage!

Pros: None

Cons: 5G wireless flaky out of the box. Constantly resets itself.

Other Thoughts: Factory firmware is unusable due to bugs. Installed DD-WRT but the 5G wireless never worked correctly. It would constantly reset. Finally died completely. Contacted Linksys support. They offered to replace. A couple of weeks later, after nagging us to send back the old router even though they hadn't sent the new one, they informed us that moel was no longer available due to "issues"! Two more weeks of nagging for the return of the old one and they informed us they were cancelling the order because we hadn't responded - over the Christmas holiday! Called them again and were informed that the replacement model was no longer available either. They sent us some new piece of garbage that can only be configured via mobile app! This is for a business and we don't allow mobile devices to connect to the wireless due to security concerns. A formerly outstanding brand has sunk to garbage status since being acquired by Belkin. An expensive lesson but I'll never purchase another Linksys product!

Clunky UI, DHCP broken

Pros: Build quality seems good.
It wasn't too hard to set up.
Has a decent featureset, but see the Cons section.

Cons: The UI for this router is terrible. Nothing is where you would expect it to be and it looks like they were trying to cram everything in to a limit of 5 main "tabs" and then in sub tabs.
This router also doesn't have very much support in the way of traffic / data bandwidth monitoring. Even viewing what devices are connected is pretty much a useless diagram. Compared to Asus which would show you the brand of device connected automatically.
The biggest con is my router seems to be suffering from DHCP failure. It will not hand out IP addresses to clients anymore, despite rebooting it. I fixed this 6 months ago by factory resetting the router (and having to redo all my DHCP reservations and port forwarding), but it looks like the problem is back. A basic google search for WRT1900 DHCP problem seems to indicate a lot of people have issues.

Other Thoughts: So far Asus and now Linksys are on my "do not buy" list for wireless routers. I had 2 Asus routers (higher end ones) physically die on me with no warning, and now the DHCP problem with Linksys. I'm going to try out Synology's router next.

Too expensive to be disposable

Pros: Works great -- for about six months ....

Cons: Starts dropping connections after several months of use....

Other Thoughts: In the past I used cheap routers from the local superstore, and threw them out when they stopped working. This time I decided to bite the bullet and buy a 'quality' unit -- unfortunately, cost does not translate to quality. This one has started acting up in less time than my cheap ones, and in fact, I've had to switch back to my last, somewhat flaky Netgear unit until I can acquire a new one. Linksys is clearly just another company riding on a reputation it no longer deserves. You'd do better to buy the cheapest (non-Linksys) unit you can find, and just flush the difference in price down the toilet.

Hi, Joseph B.,

This is a very odd behavior for the Linksys router. You can try to update the firmware, then reset and configure the router again to try and fix this. We can have our Escalation Engineers assist you with further troubleshooting.

Garbage! What happened to Linksys??

Pros: Looks cool, and that's it!

Cons: I have always purchased Linksys routers for the last 20 years. Now that there is such a high demand for wireless connections and streaming in my home I had to upgrade from my rock solid WRT54GL. This things is a major disappointment! Wireless always goes down a couple times a week! Tried of troubleshooting, updating, re-flashing, resetting, power cycling....I'm done!! Always drops internet connection, orange bar means I'm getting angry again! What a hunk of doo doo! I'm seriously frustrated with this product , can you tell? :(

Other Thoughts: Find another company to buy your router from Linksys is not what it once was! Belkin wrapped in my blue cool Linksys case?

Manufacturer Response:
Hi, Shanahan F.,

You should normally experience a stable wireless connection once the router is configured. Since you already tried different troubleshooting steps, allow us to have our Escalation Engineers contact you and assist you in optimizing the performance of the device. Please email us at LinksysCares@linksys.com with your phone number and the link to this post for our reference.
