did NOT work with my Vista 64 Install

Pros: No pros as it did not work with my Vista 64 install

Cons: did not work with my Vista 64 install

Other Thoughts: Will be putting in a new HDD tonight and a fresh install of the OS, hope this will work off a fresh install but what a pain. POOR support, though New Egg is not the problem there.

Works as advertised

Pros: Installed easily after reinstalling Win 7 X64. The card automatically updated its firmware after driver install. Great features like the built in firewall and Xeno Chat. The firewall was simple to configure and works very smoothly. Playing Team Fortress 2 I didn't see a big reduction in Ping status but I did see a steady ping staying the same and not jumping all over the place. Gameply felt a lot smoother and not jerky or anything. Bandwidth control is easy to set up.

Cons: Tried to download a couple torrents and play a game at the same time. Ping went through the roof. Played around a little with the card on game setting and still didn't help. I think I will really have to dig deep and play with the controls to get it to work better on bandwidth control.

Other Thoughts: One word of advice, Get the latest drivers from EVGA.com and don't use the ones on the disc. They were out of date. Also to eliviate driver problems I turned off the two MB nics in the BIOS. Then reinstall windows. Worked perfectly. This NIC is everything I read it would be. DON'T EXPECT IT TO MAKE YOUR INTERNET SPEED FASTER BECAUSE IT WON'T.

Waste of cash

Pros: None

Cons: File speed downloads dropped to speeds similar to a 10 half duplex connection. I ran side by side test with the EVGA Killer Xeno, Built in Gigabit and an Intel Pro 1000 PCIe NIC. The Intel ran downloads at almost 60 Mb/Sec. The EVGA ran at about 1.5 Mb/Sec.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card in order to reduce processor reduction while gaming. What I found was I was much better off just purchasing an Intel Pro 1000 PCIe NIC and my performance for gaming and file downloads is much better across the board.

Manufacturer Response:
Hi,

A couple of things to keep in mind:

1. To get higher network transfer speeds try running the card in "app mode"
2. Also try adjusting the bandwidth control feature to allow your download to use more of your available bandwidth.

Lastly, the card is optimized for latency, I would not recommend comparing file transfer speeds to judge the performance.

Thanks,
Jacob

Poor Network Card

Pros: bad buy...

Cons: I think I lost my money..

Other Thoughts: I bought this card thinking was going to reduce my ping 35/37 and insted that now i have more than 40/50 in the game I play...

Keep your expectations reasonable

Pros: It does what it claims. This card will improve your framerates and pings. It's not magical, it's pretty simple really. Idling in a game without much network traffic, you'll be hard-pressed to notice any difference, if any at all. Where thise card really shines is in high network traffic scenarios, like MMO raids and cities. In scenarios like this, it gives a minor to moderate boost consistently, and really does a lot to smooth out spikes. Why? Because it handles the network processing instead of your CPU. In some games, that can be a lot of stress relief, in others, not so much.

Also, FNApps are handy for people with only one system, but if you have this kind of cash to blow on a NIC, you should really be able to afford a 2nd PC.

Cons: VOIP support is laughable (Mumble, Teamspeak, no Vent), it does not act as an independent sound card, it uses pass-through for some stuff. Drivers can be a bit buggy at times, but the support forums are typically helpful. Expensive for what you get (But not as bad as my old M1!)

Other Thoughts: Read up on this card first. Both eVGA and Bigfoot have lots of info describing what the card does. They don't try to lie to you. This is one of the last things to do to your gaming rig to improve performance. Make sure you have a high-end video card, 4GB+ RAM, high speed HDDs or SSD, and an independent sound card before you go for this. Otherwise, you can spend your money on other things and get better net performance for your dollar.

Also, keep in mind like sound cards and hard drives, this can last many years and upgrade cycles, so the high cost can be more justified.

So take the negative reviews with a grain of salt, look at what the manufacturer CLAIMS you will see, and buy accordingly. A good way to test this for yourself is to run through a crowded area in a MMO, plug the ethernet cable into the other NIC, and reboot. Pay attention to how much more smoothly you can run through it.

unstable

Pros: it lights up

Cons: This review is based on 6 weeks usage, most of that playing AION.

I'd forgive the lacking voip support (can't convert all my friends to mumble all by myself unfortunately, didn't know that was part of the deal) and the difficulty in being able to see a difference while gaming.

but...

I'm one of those people who like to give the "new hotness" techs a shot.. and this seemed like an interesting product.

I almost wouldn't care if the performance was the SAME as my 30 dollar pcie intel nic.... but I can't forgive occasional blue screens and the PITA software.

Plus.. they recommend turning off your router and software firewalls, which would be fine but if I only have the xeno firewall running a simple "shields up" test turns up tons of open ports.

Oh... and it causes ventrilo to start "stuttering".. I guess that's a feature too.

SO.. Summary.. unstable, no voip offload, messes up even non-offloaded voip (vent) and firewall that doesn't block anything. Oh yeah my ping

Other Thoughts: Looking for a new toy to get that last little bit of performance? Buy a nice intel ssd instead, that will at least give you a notice difference and you won't feel like you just wiped your but with 5 20 dollar bills.

How to waste money - 101.

Pros: EVGA brand name, which gives me hope the wrongs will be righted.

However, I don't believe Jacob Freeman of EVGA will be part of any corrective action.

Cons: I bought my EVGA Xeno Pro from Newegg in May 2009. At the time Bigfoot and EVGA both advertised the card would offload TeamSpeak 2. That is the reason I bought the card. Xeno Pro DOES NOT OFFLOAD TEAMSPEAK 2. It didn't in May and it doesn't in October. Worse, neither EVGA or Bigfoot will even speak to the subject. It was removed from their websites in July 2009 when I accused them of lying and of false advertising, but for those that purchased Xeno Pro in May, June and early July that is of little satisfaction.

In addition, many of the Xeno Pro customers have just removed the card and given up. I've removed mine too, but I haven't given up. I have never been disappointed by EVGA and I'm willing to give them a chance to correct this situation, but I must say, "Time is running out." I've been involved in class action suits before with rather stunning success. This one is a no brainer. Xeno Pro has been on the market for months and still on Beta software. Bummer.

Other Thoughts: This product deserves ZERO eggs. Most everything Xeno Pro can do, so can a gaming type router and it can do it for more than one PC. I have games that don't work perfectly with TeamSpeak 2. That combined with poor hearing in both ears (result of actual combat, not gaming) caused me to become interested in Xeno Pro's claim that it provided extraordinary clairty with TeamSpeak 2 completely offloaded to the on card audio processor. I didn't even flinch or hesitate when I placed my order. Now I have nothing to show for a $130 investment. Plain and simple, this is a rip off with prior knowledge. I wonder what the courts will do with this situation? Ha Ha Ha, what a no brainer!

Try putting the smooze on this one, Jacob Freeman.

Oh, do I hate EVGA? No, I built a new system with a X58 758 motherboard and an OCd GTX 260/216. Thankfully, that stuff is still solid, unlike the boozo that decided to resell Bigfoot lies.

So-So

Pros: Gigabit, Software works great in XP 32 (didn't try Vista32). Appeared to improve ping a slight bit... perhaps that was a placebo though! :)

Cons: No XP 64bit support (sorry, vista is terrible... i'm sticking with XP 64 for 6GB memory support), Software didnt work on Vista64, Cost. Gaming router would help your entire network, vs this network card just helping one pc.

Other Thoughts: The difference isnt HUGE, so you're not going to have a 10 ping if you usually get a 100 ping, it may improve anywhere from 5-15ms.
