Excellent little arm-linux box!

Pros: First off, I didn't buy this device to watch tv. So this review is not going to be suited for people who are looking to use this device as a TV box. This review doesn't address the stock Android 4.2.x that this box came with. I primarily bought this little box to install linux (currently installed and running Xubuntu). I wanted a little arm based dev machine to carry with me that was not a laptop. Here are some of my observations:
Build: The build quality is excellent. Fits in my path nicely and has a very fine finish. The included accesories are all great too.
I/O ports: All nicely spaced and convinently located. The 2 USBs are great. The far end one is also the OTG port. The best part is the RJ45. My understanding is that the board has a separate LAN controller, and doesn't use the LAN device on the SoC. It works as advertized and I get 9+MB/s on scp file transfers on my local network. HDMI work great. I haven't tried the optical audio output.
Linux Installation: This was why I bought the device. I have been reading about the increasing linux support for the RK3188 SoC by RockChip. I flashed the excellent bootloader created by 'linuxium' using the linux upgrade_tool provided by RockChip after connecting the minix mini to my other linux (Ubuntu) box using the OTG USB port in recovery mode. I then created a Xubuntu image on a SD card and booted the device into linux (yay!). Now a couple of days later I am able to update/edit/compile/commit all my C++ applications using svn && netbeans C/C++ IDE.

Seems to be running very stable and cool to touch.

Special mention: newegg delivery: I got the super-saver free shipping, and they said 4-7 days. But I got it the very next day!

Cons: Can't complain.

Get the full size X7

Pros: Does most things fine out of the box.

Cons: Doesn't work with flixster. Sound is buggy at high resolution. Very little support for rom mods, unlike the full size neo x7.

Other Thoughts: Only bought the mini because newegg showed the full size x7 was discontinued. Less than a week after I bought it newegg lowered the price on the mini and brought back the full size x7. They haven't responded to my price matching inquiry after a week. I've been pretty happy with newegg customer service in the past but really feel I got the bait and switch with this purchase. I'll definitely be lowering newegg in the pecking order for future purchases.

Works great

Pros: Tiny android box that runs XBMC (as well as anything else) and works with the Google Play store.
Plays 1080p video

Cons: No component out
XBMC for Minix is not entirely optimized yet. The version they have released does not play all the formats the standard XBMC will play (mostly WMVs) but it streams faster than the regular XBMC.

Other Thoughts: Good box for the price. It is a tossup between this and the ATV1200 as the best android XBMC box to buy as of the time of this review. I have two ATV1200s and one XBMC Minix. I will probably get one more Minix.

Not that great

Pros: Connected to a tv with wireless keyboard and mouse provides a pc like experience.

Cons: Many glitches. Can't resolve local network well without rooting and editing the host file. Has issues with the keyboard popping up, even though you have a keyboard attached. Once disabled it tried to suggest Asian looking character keyboard? It also constantly asks for voice input?

After a few reboots it will forget your network settings. Especially if its wired.

Other Thoughts: It was a neat idea but this isn't ready for what they bill it as. It's certainly doesn't compare to Apple TV or true google tv. You're better off getting a raspberry pi and installing linux.
