I bought this to run folding@home full time & quietly. It does better PPD than my 3870.
Of course I put a fan on it. SCYTHE SY1425SL12L(140mm, 29CFM, 10.8dbA). But in the end I got a quiet folding setup.
I strapped a 140MM fan to the side with fishing string. I had to leave the side of my case open, because it is old & does not have any case fans, just the power supply fan. When folding@home I get 52C & it loads my 6400+ @ ~60%(on 1 core). It produces ~3800PPD, which is better than my other PC(9950BE @ 3.1Ghz, 3870x2 @ 850 GPU & 950 MEM producing ~2500PPD @ 100% CPU).
3dmark06: SM2.0 = 4895 SM3.0 = 4633
None of my GPUs are OCed for the above results, only the OCing that the factory did. I don't believe in OCing GPUs for folding, because GPUs will continue to run even though it is producing errors(unlike CPUs, they lockup or reboot) & errors are not good for finding the cure for cancer or other diseases.
