Some manufacturers place restrictions on how details of their products may be communicated.
I bought two of these and the first one worked nice for about a month, then starting throwing hissy fits about when it will accept connections. By the end of the 2nd month it was going crazy. Not 5 feet away and the connection would be mediocre. The 2nd one just plain didn't work. It would drop connections almost instantly, and it would shut off the WLAN port. Office Space style "relieved" the first router of its duties and RMA'ed the 2nd.
I've noticed a trend of product worsening coming from Linksys' product emitting hole. I think the WRT54G was the apex of Linksys' wireless products and its newer routers are terrible. I have since transfered all my networking products to DLink, which is somewhat better.
