3 out of 5 eggs A Good Value 05/03/2009

This review is from: memorex 8.5GB 8X DVD+R DL 50 Packs Spindle Disc Model 05732

These are not the best dual layer blanks around, but they're pretty decent, considering the price. They are the same formulation as the Ritek 8X (Ritek S04) and yet they have been more reliable, in my experience. AND they are less expensive, to boot!

The TDK dual layers are the same formulation as these (Ritek S04), and yet they've given me fewer coasters and higher quality burns overall, although some batches of the Memorex's have been just as good.

Other Thoughts:

As with all blank discs, you can improve the odds of getting a high quality burn by using a slower writing speed. I use 4X with these most of the time. If the burner supports it, I'll use 2.4 X - the burn quality is usually better. It's worth the extra time it takes - assuming you've got the time to spare. If you don't, buy the Verbatim 8X dual layers instead.
