Tools from WD website (did not bother with the CD, as per my usual) worked fine - copied all data and boot records from the older drive to the new drive, connected through a USB adapter. Took out the old drive, put in the new drive, and booted up - no sweat. (It's not always that easy ...)
As usual, have your own cable and screws around. I have to second some who have said that packaging of this OE drive was poor: while it came in bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts, ALL of the bubbles on one side of the drive were completely flat (!), and I had visions of how hard it had to have been dropped to accomplish that - but maybe they got popped in some other manner. Disconcerting, nonetheless ...
