This review is from: ASUS M4A78 PRO AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
Well laid out MB with plenty of connectors all in the right place.
1. The MB I received DID NOT support the Phenom-II X4 processor it was BUNDLED with out of the box. The machine wouldnt boot. ASUS told me that I would need to upgrade the BIOS before the CPU would be supported, and that if I didnt have an older AM2 processor to pop into it, I would have to ship it to ASUS to get it flashed. Another reviewer on Newegg got the idea to reset the BIOS; that worked and then it would boot once, but then after a reboot you would have to reset the BIOS to get it to boot again. This was good enough to get the BIOS flashed and now the board works OK.
Newegg, if you are going to bundle a CPU with a MOBO, please make sure they actually do work together. If not for the helpful suggestion from another customer, this would have been an RMA.
