Terrible sound! 09/21/2009
This review is from: ASUS M4A79 Deluxe AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard
Pros:
- Support for a broad range of AMD CPUs
- Very stable, easy to use BIOS
Cons:
- According to the reviews, ALL Asus boards with the realtek sound chipset have a bad noise problem. Whenever the HDD is accessed, there is a HORRIBLE squealing / squeaking noise from the speakers! I've tried isolating the motherboard with insulators, to no effect.
Asus, either stop using Realtek chips or fix this problem for your future boards!
Overall Review:
This board replaced my M3A79T-Deluxe board, which had a different on-board audio chip. No problems with that board.
The experience is aggravating enough turn me away from all future Asus products with a realtek on-board sound.
