Quirky company, quirky motherboard! 04/28/2010
This review is from: EVGA E758-TR 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
This motherboard is not the worst I've had. It's stable and fairly fast.
First, who ever heard of having to pay $30 before a manufacturer will take back a defective product! The first one of these I got recognized only 4 of the 6 gigs of installed memory, and had to be RMAed to EVGA. EVGA customer service told me that their policy was to charge $30, $40, or $50 (depending on how fast you want it) in advance for cross shipping. I paid the middle fee for FedEx 3 day, but they shipped UPS ground anyway, which took 5 business days from CA. (They did refund $10 when I complained)
Though as I said the board is solid, it’s also quirky. When booted cold, it starts, stops, then starts again after a few seconds. When started from sleep mode, rather than opening in windows like most of my other boards did, it goes through the same lengthily process booting warm. The standby mode consists of a blank monitor and everything else seemingly still running.
Overall my experience with this motherboard has been enough to cause me to swear off EVGA products from here on in.
