No cigar for Symantec 06/04/2010
This review is from: Symantec Norton Ghost 15.0 - 1 PC
Imaging works and that's my main concern because most of the other features are just fluff.
Tries to be dummy proof and just confuses the issue with an interface that sucks. I've use Ghost since they bought 'Drive Image' and messed (Newegg wouldn't let me use the word I wanted to use) it up and each release gets worse.
My main complaint is that the 'Liveupdate' doesn't work on all systems and Symantec doesn't seem to care. For example I've installed 3 copies on 3 different systems, all very current hardware and and running Windows 7. Liveupdate only works on one. Symantec support (ha!) only wants to try the same old uninstall, reinstall etc. stuff that most of us have already tried before contacting them. They don't really dig in and try to find the real problem.
I wrote application systems for many years from 1st generation mainframes up to and including microcomputers, excuse me, Personal Computers so I know a little something about fixing "bugs" and the Symantec approach just doesn't cut it.
Other than all that, it does the job I need done the most and I've not been able to find anything better although the Windows 7 backup utility is usable and with a little more work like more user control over some features could be very usable.
