Good but not great 07/11/2010
Intel i3 is a solid processor with the ability to perform many functions without delay. The 500GB hard drive is big enough to store most everything except for the avid Blu-Ray and DVD storage freaks. Finally, 4GB of memory and the entry level ATI 5470 video card allow for quick execution and few delays. Finally, the 1900 x 1080 LCD screen is very clear and detailed.
The ergonomics are all wrong for me; the mousepad is irrationally centered to the left of the keyboard, the three USB ports all all clustered tightly on the right-hand side of the computer, the power cord placement is weird, and the power on-off button is too easy to accidentally hit. Fit and finish are too plasticy and the installed bloatware is terrible (good luck getting those .dlls and hidden attributes removed). Uninstall removes the program but not its extensive fingerprints in the hard drive and registry.
I love SONY products but this is just not the computer I expected. Since the price dropped after I got it, it might be a 4 egg rating for you. My friend owns the 16.4" i7 SONY and its definitely worth the extra cash and upgrade in quality.
