Great Motherboard! 10/14/2010
This review is from: ASRock 880G EXTREME3 AM3 AMD 880G SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
Pros:
"Value" brand with all of the high-end features. Full-sized ATX gives good enough room for using a decent-sized cooler. USB 3.0 works well. I used a 2.0 drive on a 3.0 slot that usually transfers data at a real-world rate of 5-15mb/s...the drive was transferring at 25mb/s, nonstop! Northbridge and MOSFET heatpipe/heatinks seem to keep things cool. Used with a Phenom II X3 740, the UCC utility in the BIOS unlocked it with ease to an X4. Have it overclocked to 3.2ghz by upping the multiplier by 1 and increasing the core clock by 3. Love the onboard power/reset switches as well as the debug LED. Plenty of case fan connectors, optical output, etc. Good, good stuff for a great price.
Cons:
None that I can think of, really. I haven't run into any problems with the board yet.
Overall Review:
Some people have complained about the motherboard taking a while to boot the system - this i probably because of external hard drives. Bootup was super snappy at first, but after I connected 4 external drives, I noticed it polled each one, so before boot, I had to wait for each external drive to spin up. Doesn't really take any longer to boot up than my old system did. I just turn off USB boot feature in the BIOS, then it doesn't poll the drives.
