Buffalo's WHR-G54-HP is the very definition of "great home/small office wireless router". It's stable, well designed and easy to set up. While the Buffalo supplied firmware will suffice and works reasonably well, using DD-WRT or other third party firmware will really let this thing perform at its peak.
I've replaced countless failed routers of every brand there is (except other Buffalo units) for customers with these and other Buffalo models--and not one has ever been troublesome. It really is a "plug it in and it works" experience.
I also have units working in many different capacities--including a few sets linking two buildings together over long distances--and again, they just don't quit...not even in unheated/unconditioned spaces.
My only complaints would be in regards to availability--it's not always easy to get these (though Newegg is pretty good with supplies) and Buffalo's included setup software. Buffalo's own setup software is a good effort, but it just lacks some polish and is somewhat clunky in areas.
If you're in the market for a wireless router, this is the one to buy. What it doesn't have in terms of fancy features, looks and wireless-N support it more than makes up for in terms of simple reliability. You won't regret buying one of these units.
