Client mode disappointing 02/15/2011
This review is from: TP-Link TL-WA500G eXtended Range IEEE 802.11b/g 54Mbps Wireless G Access Point
I works as an ap and client. Not expensive. Has a manual that gives setup procedures.
External antenna connection allows high gain antenna to be used.
Client mode is disappointing. I expected to be able to use DHCP to obtain an address from my router and have the gateway and dns automatically discovered. The client mode in this unit seems to allow obtaining the address from the WA500G but you need to add the gateway and dns info of your router manually. I have a similar AP/Client/Repeater/bridge from ASUS that allows you to get the client address from router and automatically gets gets gateway dns info from router via DHCP as well.
I decided to buy a USB wireless adapter and use it instead of the AP/Client. It can't be used as an AP but it works properly under DHCP.
