Not DDR3-1600 Memory! 09/22/2011
This review is from: HyperX 12GB (3 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) XMP Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9D3K3/12GX
Pros:
Great price, looks good, plenty of memory.
Cons:
Did not run at advertised speeds on my system. System would not cold boot with memory at DDR3-1600 and 9-9-9-27 timings and 1.65v to the memory. I could boot the system at DDR3-1333 and then up the speed, but I would get frequent BSODs.
Also, I have always been a big fan of Newegg but they lost a point in my mind on this one because apparently they feel that I deserve to pay a restocking fee because the memory I ordered is defective.
Overall Review:
Always bought Corsair in the past, gave Kingston a chance and ended up with this ordeal. Back to Corsair I go.
In case you are considering buying this memory, here is my system config for comparison purposes:
Asus Rampage III Extreme
Core i7-965
EVGA GTX 570 HD
3x Samsung HD322GJ in RAID0
Silverstone ZF650 PSU
All air cooled and running at stock speed.
