Does decrease boot time considerably. Inexpensive. Easy to install and program access is faster.
Lousy support from manufacturer. If anything goes wrong during firmware update the unit will crash and has to be replaced. Lousy documentation. I bought one of these and put it with a 60 gig. SDD. It booted up nicely and seemed to work well until I did the recommended firmware upgrade. Then it crashed and my PC wouldn't post. Tech. support said the firmware was corrupt and it had to be sent back. So I got a RMA and sent it back. The turn around time was supposed to be a few days but after two weeks I had to keep bugging them to ship the new one back to me. I also got tech. support to do the firmware upgrade for me before they shipped it out. The replacement booted up ok but they didn't tell me that I should have reformatted the SDD first. My PC booted up with the new HDDBOOST good but everything was two weeks old. My desktop, and all updates and any software changes were the old stuff before I took the hddboost out. The SDD didn't re-sync to my hard drive but the other way around.
This is and inexpensive unit and works well when it's working but I certainly wouldn't buy another one. If there were something else out there I would consider that first. What really makes this package fast is determined by the speed and size of the SDD you buy and that is the expensive part. I only paid $40 for the unit but the Corsair SDD was $100. I don't really think it's worth it considering the trouble I went through.
