TP Link model TL-WR541G Wi-Fi Router 03/24/2012
This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR541G IEEE 802.11b/g eXtended Range Wireless G Router up to 54Mbps/ 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Port x4
Pros:
All of the front LED's that should be on or flashing came on immediately - however, the "easy inststall" program said "flashing" for some and "on" for others - the LED for the WAN was flashing when the program said it shoud be on. Flashing is correct.
.
I paid only $18 with an eMail coupon code.
.
It now functions like my old 802.11B LinkSys WAP11 - but presumably much faster.
.
Cons:
It took me over an hour on the telephone, talking to a tech who had such an accent that I had to get her to repeat every sentence two or three times, before the WiFI connection finally worked.
.
The "Easy Install" CD program went just fine untill the very end, when it "Failed to Verify Router Settings" - and I had no WiFi connection. I tried it three times before calling Tech Support.
.
This was all a big headache. !! It took hours.
.
Overall Review:
I am working with Win-XP; my TP-Link TL-WR541G is attached by eithernet to another LinkSys router, which is fed my a Hughes.net Modem. I re-attached my old LinkSys WAP-11 access point several times as a test - and my connection was always good.
.
I bought this new access point in advance of changing my ISP to Exceed/Wild-Blue "Hi-Speed" satellite service.
