Good keyboard, problematic drivers/firmware 07/26/2012
This review is from: RAZER Black Wired BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Pros:
-Nice tactile feel w/ Cherry MX Blue switches.
-Macro functionality.
-Nice look.
-Good while it lasted.
Cons:
-Letters fade (no biggie).
-It's easy to accidentally turn on the "record macro" function which can be detrimental while gaming if you save it to a key.
-Razer Synapse 2.0 cloud software is buggy and makes driver/firmware upkeep more difficult.
-But most of all, the keyboard stopped working after about a year of use. It would randomly turn off when being used, and it was really frustrating when it happened while in a game like StarCraft 2. This would happen quite frequently, about 2 times an hour.
-In addition letters would get stuck / spammed (not physically). You would be typing anddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd -- the only way to fix it would be to replug
Overall Review:
I used the keyboard on two different computers and it happened on both. Firmware & Drivers were completely updated. According to some others having the problem, it only happens when you update to the newer firmwares (v1.05 or higher). I recommend you DO NOT update the firmware if you pick this keyboard up.
