It's not a bug, it's a FEATURE! 10/22/2012
This review is from: CORSAIR Gaming Series GS700 700 W ATX 12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply
Pros:
It works... but...
Cons:
The fan "feature" is delightful if you don't mind a strange electrical "grinding" noise as the fan starts and tries to run at slow speeds. If you don't mind the sound (and you're a better person than I if you don't), then I'm sure this fan is just lovely. But if you are easily annoyed by sounds, or have a wife with Misophonia, then beware. As far as Corsair is concerned, check the forums and make your decision accordingly... they offered a fast RMA (11 days ago) but still no word. As the system is WAY built (and g-d help me if I have to undo my sexyfuntime cordwrapping), I don't see a way that I'd be willing to remove this, send it back and get another replacement with the exact same 'feature'. I added more fans and devices to see if i could draw more power, and thereby cause the fan to spin "sooner", but alas, not happening. Maybe I'll hook a 150watt lightbulb to it or something, and draw a lot of power, and heat the case up so that the fan comes on... yeah... you see where this is going.
Overall Review:
It has a nifty glowing led. If only I could make the colors change fast enough to hypnotize my loved ones to ignore the sound of the fan's slow start up grinding...
