Great style and quality 12/03/2012
This review is from: Movado Juro Men's Quartz Watch 0605030
I got this watch at a jewelry store my sister used to work at for a great discount. I remember visiting NYC over a decade ago and seeing a Movado for the first time in the Rockefeller Center at some jewelry store. I was mesmerized by its style and aesthetics, with the sleek black and minimalist style.
The Juro in my opinion is a classic style Movado with the right balance of colors and minimalist design. It's very dressy, and looks sharp. I've been rough with it for about 6 years, but it still has held up excellent, with only 1 battery and gasket change.
Pricey, although cheap compared to countless ultra high-end watches (try 10K - 50K+). This watch retails for $800 at any retail jewelry store. The current newegg price is excellent.
I don't wear any jewelry other than a watch, which is at least a functional item. I appreciate good craftsmanship and design, and wanted this watch because it looked so cool, not because of the price tag. There are other watches, including many Movados that are FAR more expensive than this. If you're in business, want to make a silent status statement to a client, and look good doing it, a Movado is a great choice that expresses style and taste, without being absurdly pretentious like a Rolex.
For any new Movado owner, make sure you ALWAYS bring them to authorized Movado repair jewelry stores. They are very tricky to service compared to other watches. Your watch WILL be damaged if you let a non-certified Movado tech service it. It cost me around $25 for a battery change, gaskets, and a few days at a Reis Nichols. TOTALLY worth it, and should be expected if you plan to enter the watch market of this caliber. You wouldn't take an Aston Martin to Walmart for an oil change would you?
