This review is from: ASUS P9X79 DELUXE LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros:

Effective cooling - No heat issues whatsoever. Motherboard temps normally idle at around 33c. DIGI+ Power Control works well, allowing for granular control of voltage.

Powerful overclocking. - I usually run @ 3800 MHz, nothing major. Other than encoding jobs, I don't really have anything that taxes available resources, so I don't push the overclocking. Resources are available, if you want to take advantage.

Stable - After the BIOS update, system worked just fine. OCing RAM stability was an issue for a short while, but ASUS pushed out another BIOS update soon after MB release, which resolved this issue. Since then everything has been 100% stable even under Prime95 stress testing.

Good features - More USB ports than I will ever need in this lifetime. Powered eSATA is handy. ASUS AI Suite is a little awkward, but it works.

Cons:

MB BIOS may require an out-of-box update, depending on what revision you receive. As of ver. 0906, my system has been tested stable.

Overall Review:

The Marvell Controller, limited by the fact that it shares bandwidth with one PCIe lane, loses when compared with the board's Intel x79 controller. If you're using mechanical drives, or the ASUS SSD caching solution, or ignoring the Marvel controller entirely, this won't be an issue.

If you're planning to update your BIOS to the latest release, PLEASE READ ASUS' INSTRUCTIONS PROPERLY. The BIOS structure was modified for full Windows 8 compatibility. I used the BIOS flashback method for the BIOS conversion, no hangups no problems.
