This review is from: Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound AS5-3.5G
Seems to be keeping the temperatures at reasonable levels
Post load idle temperatures come down quite quickly
Not exactly cheap, but you get what you pay for I guess.
It’s not the newest.
Built three “identical” i5 3570k based rigs with a single tube of this AS-5 and there’s still quite a bit left in the tube. Right off, temps seemed very reasonable with a evo 212 cooler on each rig. However, after some burn in time, we’re seeing a couple (2-3) degrees worth of temperature difference between each build. For my money, this is partly down to the one owner wanting a smaller amount of thermal paste (grain of rice) as opposed to half way between grain of rice and a small pea. Although his case airflow is also contributing to this temperature difference.
Overall, there seems to be some negligible increase in temperature at full loads on stock / turbo clock speeds, after a heavy burn in session @4.5-4.6 ghz, but nothing conclusive on the at idle temperatures. Some people claim that AS-5 is getting long in the tooth, but with so many positive recommendations, I’d say it’s tried and true.
