This review is from: HighPoint RocketRAID 622 PCI-Express 2.0 x1 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Faster than the default PCIe card that came with the unit. Write speeds have increased. Driver now appears to be stable, though it took a bit to get there.

At least on Linux, if you are willing to fight with the driver, it does get the job done. Note I am using for JBOD only.

Took a bit of trial and error to get the driver stable. Website table layout a bit confusing when getting the Open-source drivers.

Other Thoughts:

Note: I am only using this for JBOD, not using the RAID functionality. The following is abbreviated, just pointing out on how I got it to go.

Have TR5MB with PCIe card connected to CentOS 5.9 in-home server (Dell Precision 390) with 5-1TB disks installed. The card that came with the unit was plug and play but finally started to give up the go.

The 622 came with a driver disk, but only up to CentOS 5.5 (plus others). You can find the Open-source drivers on their website. Make sure you get the exact ones for this card, there are a few choices and the web site can be slightly confusing (this may have accidentally caused me some issues). In the end I made sure CentOS 5.9 had all the available patches, rebuilt the driver following the instructions supplied (make/make install worked without issue). I have been stable since then. This server runs 24/7. Ran a number of large file tests, no issues.

Of course, YMMV.
