Is it doing anything? 02/17/2013
Great price, good idea
The ExpressCache software had a bug that was supposedly fixed in Version 1.0.1 (release date: September 25, 2012) where the software would want to be Activated after every reboot. Now the software is Version 1.1.0 (release date: January 18, 2013) and the Activation bug is back (or it was never fixed to begin with, idk). Through research, it has been said that ExpressCache is probably still working; that the interface segment of the software (provided by SanDisk) is where the bug is, and the caching segment of the software (provided by Condusiv) should still be working. But being sure of that is equally frustrating (see below).
BAD SOFTWARE INTERFACE:
The interface gives contradictory information about whether the software is working. Upon reading into the bug described above, I watched the "cache monitor" within the software, which should change when ExpressCache is working. The lines change VERY slightly going up and down, but this is a horrible "monitor" since the scale is always changing and doesn't make much sense. It should never appear that the MB read since boot go down - The numbers and lines should always be going up. Not to mention, the history is a whole 60 seconds - not nearly enough to make any conclusions about whether the solution is having any effect.
I have not seen any change in performance, despite the SSD being almost full.
I will likely use another logging utility to monitor this drive to see if it's actually being utilized. If not, this will be the second time I've been burned by SSD but I'll try to make the most of it by making it my windows pagefile drive or something.
