issues with usb drive, no uefi 03/11/2013
This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
1866 ram runs fine, though i did have to set it up manually.
got it on black friday so at least i feel like i got my moneys worth.
my biggest issue is that post is slow if i have my 1TB usb drive plugged in and furthermore if im loading vista, i get a minute long black screen between post and the OS loading screen. its not so bad with windows 8 and the problem goes away altogether if i unplug the drive for bootup, but i didnt have this problem at all with the old socket 939 motherboard that I just replaced.
as mentioned has quick settings for different ram speeds but it doesnt work properly so i had to do some research and setup the timing manually for my 1866 ram
also the software that comes with it is not very good, the monitoring software doesnt even show all the fans i have though speed fan doesnt have any issues. also the hybrid efi touch bios program is garbage. i wasnt able to access a lot of the bios functions with it.
just to be clear, this motherboard does not have uefi. not marking it off for this since it doesnt say it does in the description, however if you look it up on google you may find conflicting information so you need to know that this is rev1.4 and only rev3.0 and higher have uefi. it would be nice if newegg could start providing this kind of information.
