Works on PowerEdge R720! 04/30/2013
This is the only USB 3.0 card that I've ever seen to work on a PowerEdge R720. All the other cards require a 4-port power connector to be plugged into the board, but this one does not, so it makes it easy to install in servers where there are no power cables available.
There are several different device drivers on the CD. The manual that comes with the card tells you exactly which one to use. It is OK to install the driver after installing the hardware.
Works out of the box in Linux (kernel needs CONFIG_USB_XHCI_HCD enabled).
The card provides a USB 3.0 root hub. The eSATA connector is basically a USB->SATA adapter built-in to the card, so it shows up as a USB 3.0 device.
