This review is from: SUPERMICRO SYS-6027R-WRF 2U Rackmount Server Barebone Dual LGA 2011 Intel C602 DDR3 1600/1333/1066/800
Pros:
Decent price
Easy to assemble with little to no fuss
Solid rails for the rack mount - comes with adapters for both types of server racks found on the market
Runs quieter than the SuperMicro 1U models.
Air flow design is top notch
The redundant power supply is a bonus.
Liked this unit so much that a second one was purchased.
Cons:
The quality assurance has been suspect of late in making sure all the parts for the server are making it into the box. Because we have purchased multiple SuperMicro servers in the past, this was not a show stopper for us since we have extra parts on hand, but it is something to keep in mind. In our case the sata back plane for the slim DVD drive was missing. Knocked off an egg because of this.
Overall Review:
We added an Intel SAS/sata raid card to use in the server so not all of the motherboard's functions were tested. If you want to use solid state drives in the 3.5" hot swap bays I recommend buying the icy dock trays. They work well in our configuration.
Our server config:
Dual Xeon
64 GB ECC RAM
OCZ SDD in RAID 1
Icy Dock trays for the SSDs
Intel SAS/Sata RAID card
Windows Server 2012 Std
