1 out of 5 eggs Follow-up Review 10/05/2013

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 8 Professional 64-bit (Full Version)

Pros:

It looks very interesting; nice graphics and capabilities. Boots quickly and recognizes hardware and automatically retrieves the drivers.

Cons:

This is a follow-up of my previous posting on this OS. After further usage of Windows 8, I’ve decided it’s worst piece of software I have ever bought from Microsoft. The absolute worst. Internet Explorer constantly has scripting errors and automatic shutdowns when encountering websites using Adobe Flash. On some occasions Internet Explorer will auto reload itself to infinity and I’ll have to use task manager or reboot the system. Flash cannot be reloaded separately as it is merged with the browser. Microsoft’s competitor’s browsers Chrome, Safari, etc., work better than Explorer and that says a lot about how much Microsoft put-into making this thing work properly. Maybe they should’ve asked Apple to write Windows 8 and the OS would have actually worked.

I get an average of 3 blue-screens per day with “sending issue to Microsoft for solution” but nothing ever gets solved. I’ve reviewed the Windows 8 system report and there are so many red X’s (system error-shut down), that the days it doesn’t blue-screens seem like they’re abnormal.

Not being able to run Microsoft Office 2003 is absolutely ridiculous as it is Microsoft’s own product. I have several other apps I purchased within the same frame as Office yet they run: i.e. Encarta, Digital Image, etc. Microsoft is getting greedy and forcing customers into their new version of Office.

I’ve already talked before about the shut-down menu, accessory apps, and control menus have a series of clicks and right-clicks just to access them. With all the issues this OS has, getting to the source of repairs needs to be a whole lot easier.

I haven’t listed all the issues here, yep, there’s more but basically, the one issue that is worst of all is the system being unpredictable, unstable, and unreliable. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Overall Review:

In contrast, I have 4 systems running Windows 7 and they are absolutely flawless in their operation. Not a hitch. In fact when I erased Win8 and used Win7 on this system, it ran just as great. Microsoft really had better have something magnificent rolled into the 8.1 update because they’ve messed up really bad this time.
