1 out of 5 eggs FAIL! 10/22/2013

This review is from: Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit

NEW OS recognizes hardware newer than OLD OS.
Digital Sound/HDMI Sound options work.
NETWORK DISCOVERY uPnP finds TV, DLNA devices, Computers, Routers effortlessly.

SOS, Win 8 Redo. Lost all my desktop gadgets, had to re-install ALL apps. Printers, work but need software reloaded for complete functionality.
Like smartphones, Once loaded, apps seem to stay running forever, need app-killer.
Had to register email address to install, OS wants you to be "Socially Active". Mail app is terrible, sends my email to different categories rather than just "InBox". Color scheme in NOT a scheme unless you like plain vanilla. Boxy windows with plain color borders and no ability to exit just isn't realistic. Your choice is back to the desktop or the "START" page which really isn't the Win7 start menu. Oh, and the "START" menu doesn't have programs...Pinning programs "if you can find them" pins them to the METRO icons. Add/remove programs is available but just try to find a program you just installed using the start menu.

Other Thoughts:

Hate being negative, but...C,MON. A Billion Dollar Outfit like Microsoft puts out a product as BAD as this. I jumped at the opportunity to get Win8.1 with the original "START" button like the one on Win7. Well, it isn't the same and it's just as BAD as the original Win8. Buyer Beware,
