This review is from: SYBA SY-PCI40010 PCI SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) RAID Controller Card
Inexpensive, ports are in a good spot for many configurations
After a consecutive write of over 1GB this card will fall behind and slow from 60MB/s to 15MB/s.
Likely due to driver issues, even though they have windows 8 drivers. Also does not allow write behind caching that even on board does.
Good for adding hard drives to a system. a single drive will not slow down. Compared this card to software raid and on-board raid. This card was the worst of all 3 for any raid configuration.
Silicon Image has stopped making updated drivers for chipset. However the driver still functions appropriately for Windows 8, Server 2008, and Server 2012.
As for reduced performance you are experiencing, it can be from the drives themeselves that may be not performing as advertised. Use SMART monitoring software to confirm the health of the hard drives used.
You can also adjust the Max Payload Settings in the BIOS to a higher Mhz settings to perform at a stable throughput.
Thank you for leaving us your valuable feedback.
