EASY SETUP - DOESNT PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS 12/06/2013

Easy setup, literally took five minutes to install drives and connect the ReadyNas to the network, etc. Afterward, I formatted two 2TB disks, created shares, pointed several PCs to the shares and was able to backup in about an hour.
Very small footprint and whisper quiet, you have to strain to hear it.
FTP is a protocol not an option, if the product does FTP then that is what it does. If Ihave a POE camera and I want to FTP to a share on the ReadyNas then I shouldn't need an app of any sort. I had to contact NetGear to get a list of cameras that the ReadyNas doesn't play well with, there are several. I did several hours of research on which NAS device to purchase, this information was not on the NetGear site. I consider that manipulation of the facts (capablility of the device). Or as my ten year old child said, "That's like lying."
There was supposed to be backup software on the CD in the box. I had to call NetGear to find out how to get this as well. Once again, it appeared they were not wanting to tell the consumer about the software that is free to them. Perhaps that is because it is a third party product?
There is another NAS maker that doesn't have the play well with others problems. I opted to not purchase this vendor's product because of the price savings to my customer. That will not happen again. I will not return this because it will cost me money to reinstall another. If it had been a personal choice this unit would be back on a shelf at NewEgg.
