So, when this came in the mail, I was a bit excited to have the chance to test them out for NewEgg. Let’s go ahead and dive into the pros:
-Overall, the unit itself is very comfortable to wear. If you look at the pictures newegg has, you can see a bit of cushion for the top of your head to make sure you feel comfortable while wearing these and gaming.
-The unit itself comes with a nice voice control on the wire that helps you increase/decrease/mute volume pretty easily.
-Gaming wise, the unit was pretty great. During some WoW raids I was able to talk and hear what my guild was saying. As far as noise cancelling, I could still hear a bit of noise when I tested it by turning my TV up a little, but overall it did get rid of some noise. The Microphone I didn’t have any issues with as my raid teams could hear me pretty clearly.
-The colors on this are to my liking as I am a big fan of Black and Red.
Unfortunately, I found a couple issues with this unit:
-Comfort wise, the top of the head cushion was nice, but the ear pads do not fit the ears as well since they are round and not shaped for an ear. Occasionally I had to take them off to give my ears a break as they made them a bit sore.
-The microphone is super fragile. I almost broke it when getting everything adjusted for the shape of my head.
-The unit is not wireless, so at times, I found myself constantly entangling my arms in the wire. It would have been better if some sort of clip was offered to keep it in place.
-Noise cancelling is not as fantastic as I’d like it to be. I still hear some loud noises through these.
Overall, this unit is a good “Starter” unit for someone just getting into gaming with a headset. I ended up giving mine to one of my friends who gave it to one of his children and they seem to enjoy it. I would say for the quality, it matches the price that NewEgg offers. If you’re a hardcore gamer, I would definitely profess on getting a better pair of headphones than this unit as these probably will only test your patience for a couple months. If you end up trying these out, I do want to warn you to be careful of the microphone arm when setting it up on your head so you don’t end up breaking it before even getting to try it.
