Been using Windows 8 since RC 01/02/2014
This review is from: Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit
Faster and more efficient that Windows 7 (, especially on an SSD.
No problems with software.
Apps are good on a touch device like my Tablet. On my desktop PC I still like the Start page because it's a great quick-launch page. Much nicer than icons on my desktop. This way I never need to clear my windows to find my icons, just tap the Windows/Start key.
Better access to search.
Better access to services, performance , start-up programs and device management through a massively improved task manager (and I guess it's more than that now).
App integration is a sloppy and somewhat redundant on a desktop PC.
Required learning coming from previous Windows.
Skydrive integration lacks more in depth options for "power users."
The Start menu's reaction to multiple monitors can occasionally be odd.
I do not use a touch screen for my Desktop and yes, I still like it.
No more relatively arbitrary Windows score with 8.1
This OS isn't perfect and for users less flexible with change it can be downright frustrating. But now that I've gotten in to it solidly I like it a lot more than Windows 7. I find it much easier to flow between tasks and keep on top of my system management.
People complaining about lack of support: this is an OEM disc. Buy the retail version (which costs more) if you want support. OEM OS discs NEVER come with support and haven't for as long as I've been around.
