Janky - I Bought Three 01/06/2014
This review is from: APEVIA Black / Red SECC Steel / Aluminum X-MASTER-RD/500 ATX Media Center / HTPC Case
Pros:
This case is hella cheap. I mean there is not one extra ounce of metal to spare in this thing. With additional rebate, these were ~ $30. Wow. Totally worth it at this price.
Cons:
I bought three of these, one red, one blue, and one green. Needs love.
Easy cons: 4Pin cpu power is dated at best. There are adapters available in Newegg. There are missing holes necessary to support the full ATX MB standard.
They all needed some love. 1/3 booted on first try.
There is a secret power switch that is internal to the case (pull off front panel to find) that I would have never knew of if they shipped in the "on" position. Fixed this on two which brought me to 2/3 working.
The last one had a defective power extension cable which brings the power from the back of the case to the "front" hidden panel where it connects to the PSU. I replaced this with a longerish cable that hang jankily out of the back of the case. I would be satisfied if the manufacturer replaced this cable for me.
Overall Review:
I learned how to test a power supply using a multimeter. I guess that is a skill I never knew I wanted.
