Reasonably fast but bad screen with viewing angles. 01/10/2014
This review is from: Lenovo IdeaPad Z710 17" Intel Core i5 4200M 6GB 1TB Win 8 (59387522)
Decent graphics card, I was able to play Tomb Raider, Hitman Absolution, and BF4 at console quality (Mid to High settings). The system is also reasonably quiet, only gets loud after about 40 minutes of gaming. The bootup is fast, the screen is large, it overalls feels snappy.
Well the screen is not that great, yes its 1080P, yes its bright, and yes the screen is big. With that said the colors are faded, the viewing angles left/right, up/down looks just about as bad as LCD monitors in 2003.
My other problem with this laptop is the missing Blu Ray drive. I know there's Netflix, Hulu, Prime, and Flixster I can watch in 1080P, but I would like to have the option to pop a blu ray in.
My last problem with this laptop is the average CPU. Dual core with hyperthreading, its good enough for games, but when I try to compress my blu ray movies down using Hand Brake, get ready to be waiting 3 hours or more. Having Winword 2013, and Power Point open the same time I notice my laptop became choppy. So its abit slow when multi tasking, still a good laptop, but comparing this to my late 2011 HP Envy Quad Core, I'm some what disappointed.
I like this laptop, besides my long list of complaints, if the viewing angles were better this would have gotten 4 eggs, add a blue drive, 5 eggs. If you dock this PC and buy a decent monitor, this laptop will satisfy most power users.
