This review is from: PC Power & Cooling ModXStream Pro Series 600 Watt 80+ Semi-Modular Active PFC Performance Grade ATX PC Power Supply (OCZ600MXSP)
Pros:
-Modular++
-Affordable+
-Excellent reviews from hardware secrets+++++
-High quality internals (x capacitors, y capacitors, MOV after rectifying bridge)
-Dead Silent +++++
Had a Cooler Master GX450 before this, and this power supply is quieter at startup, through operation, just in every way better.
Cons:
BEWARE BOTTOM MOUNT MID TOWER AND FULL TOWER PSU CASES
The CPU 8 pin cable is short! I have a Cooler master Elite 430 mid case, with a bottom mount power supply. By routing the cable in the small space between the motherboard and the video card at the back of the case, the 8 pin cable reached my 8 pin CPU slot right on the money. I don't like the fact that it's a bit tight, and the sleeve is in contact with the PCB of my video card. I would rather route it against the back of the case over and around. The 8 pin cable should be several inches longer, which I was able to do with my old GX450, but can't do because of the shorter length. If this was a full tower, I'm not sure if it would have reached at all.
This needs to be addressed. Perhaps an extension included in the package?
Overall Review:
I don't know why there are both a 4 pin and 8 pin CPU plug. Easy to tuck away but minor annoyance.
