Stable performance so far 01/21/2014
This review is from: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5 GHz Socket AM3+ 95W FD6300WMHKBOX Desktop Processor
Pretty fast, runs at 4.2GHZ on stock voltages and prime95 says that it's very stable at that speed here. doesn't run too hot with my H60 water cooler, I didn't trust the air cooler that came with it right off the bat because it looked like a throwback from the 90s. Plays gamecube games on the dolphin emulator without breaking a sweat, unlike my old AMD Athlon II X4 640 which I FINALLY get to retire.
On windoze, I get a CPU desync issue where windoze 7 is forced to disable aero and plays all my games oddly where about every second my game skips perhaps 5-10 frames where on my screen it looks like my character is warping, I've tried AMD Dual Core Optimizer and that had no effect on this, and so far rebooting is the only solution I can find as I could only find this problem posted on one forum and it was left completely unanswered. Linux doesn't have this problem at all though, so I blame windoze.
first time I tried to overclock this CPU, my BIOS listed its voltage as if it was a multiplier, so instead of saying 1.35V it said 11.87GHZ for the voltage, rebooted into the BIOS and never saw that again.. Maybe what I get for going with an AsRock Pro3 R2.0 MOBO, but I got a good laugh out of it and it worked fine in the end anyway so I'm happy.
