Amazing With Bass Turned Up 01/22/2014
This review is from: Pioneer SP-FS51-LR Floorstanding Speakers Pair
Absolutely Amazing Sound Quality (Caveat you have to Turn Up your Bass Settings via EQ Otherwise the Woofers Barely Move)
Great Looking (My Opinion)
Quality Construction For the Price
These Speakers with a Flat EQ are the worst sounding speakers of the bunch because not enough power / signal makes it to the 2 woofers.
However, once you adjust the bass up via EQ these are the best speakers of the bunch.
I own a pair of every Speaker in this Series BS21, BS41, C21, and SW8
Tested them all out on a Yamaha HTR 3064
BS21 - Awesome but must have at least 1 Sub preferably 2 Subs (The hardest part is adjusting the Subs Properly to Sound Natural but can be done mostly)
BS41 - Better Than the 21's just sound fuller but still need at least 1 Sub preferably 2 Subs (The hardest part is adjusting the Subs Properly to Sound Natural but can be done mostly)
C21 - You can pick up two of these (open box / sale) for less then the BS41's and use them as bookshelf's and they are everything that is awesome about the 41's but they play louder (I prefer them over the 41's. However still need at least 1 Sub preferably 2 Subs (The hardest part is adjusting the Subs Properly to Sound Natural but can be done mostly)
SW8 - Great Subs for the money and are necessary to help fill out the sound of the above BS21, BS41, and a pair of C21's. However, it feels almost impossible to find just that perfect setting for the subs to blend (Usually can get it done for a particular song / genre). However, when you switch songs or genre's it all goes to garbage and needs to be adjusted again.
Now the FS51's (Everything that is so awesome about the above 41's and C21's but with secret bass. When you plug them in with a flat EQ they sound terrible, absolutely terrible worst sounding speakers, because there is no bass as they are three way X overed, and the bass needs more signal / power to move those 2 Bass Speakers.
However when you adjust your bass settings up via EQ, Jackpot!!! these are the speakers I have been looking for (I am using them on my desk as bookshelfs (I know that sounds crazy but the way my desk is set up it works. Its in basically a cubby hole against the wall with walls on both sides so it works.
Now I have turned off the subs I have all the bass I want out of the FS51's (I listen to everything (Punk, Rock, Metal, Rap, Bass Songs, 80's) And these speakers are IT (No Subs Needed in a 12' x 15' Room) The Subs actually make it sound worse because of the problem in having to adjust them to try to make the sound, sound connected to the speakers.
Thank you A. Jones, I cannot believe how amazing these speakers sound /quality construction at a buck and half.
Therefore, in my opinion If you have the room the BS51's between a buck and two bucks cannot be beat. They are absolutely amazing. Sound is amazing and there is enough bass to not need a subwoofer unless you are a bass head, but then the problem comes in that the sub gives you more bass which is awesome but the sound quality goes down in that you get a slight disconnected sound between the speakers and sub unless you keep messing with the settings.
Otherwise, any pair of the above BS21's BS41's or C21's with at least 1 SW8 is awesome but you have to keep adjusting the Bass Setting / Sub Setting to keep the sound from sounding slightly disconnected from the speakers when you change songs / ge
