Google Voice will not work after May 15, 2014
I have used Phone Power for several years. I purchased this device a few months ago and planned to switch over to Google Voice when my 2-year Phone Power contract ran out. However, Google Voice just announced that it will stop supporting OBi on May 15, 2014. Luckily, I just found a new VOIP provider, Vestalink a/k/a Intelafone, which works with OBi. While it's not free like Google Voice, the cost is only $30-$40 per YEAR, depending on the plan you select. This includes unlimited calls and E911, and there are NO taxes or fees or surcharges. Ooma, in contrast, costs $5.00 per month just in fees, taxes and surcharges. As a result, this device ends up providing phone service cheaper than Ooma, Phone Power or almost any other VOIP out there. Call clearity on the OBi is good. You can use an App on your smart phone to access the OBi voice mail. Also, you can use the App to make phone calls on your smart phone when you have WiFi access (if you want to preserve your wireless minutes).
